LEGO Science Math Smart – Age: 4.5 to 6 years

Young campers discover the joy of building goal oriented models and learn concepts in STEM. They get to build hands-on models on their own and learn to problem solve and think critically. Campers build several models with challenges and questions that trigger children’s imaginations. This will help them build problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Campers are introduced to a variety of STEM vocabulary, and they learn how to apply them to the projects they are doing.

Amazing Robot Animals – Age: 6 to 9 years

Robotic animals! This hands-on robotics camp by Scienzminds is appropriate for a younger age group. They learn how to build animal-themed robots incorporating various sensors and motors. Students learn a drag-and-drop programming interface and program the robots to perform various actions. Kids learn several STEM and social science concepts in a fun and engaging way while they develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Robots for a Greener City – Age: 9 to 14 years

Focusing on the theme of renewable energy the student build challenging models, such as a power plant, a wind turbine and a dam. They learn how to harness the power of Sun, wind and water. This camp includes several activities, which guide students from simple to more advanced programming utilizing the LEGO NXT platform. Students are challenged to apply their programming and problem-‐solving skills by making their robots solve real-‐ world engineering challenges related to renewable energy students engage in scientific inquiry, reasoning and critical thinking.

Basics of How rockets work

Science Topics

Have you seen what happens if you let the air out of a balloon?

The air goes one way and the balloon moves in the opposite direction, that is why a balloon can be used to propel things, like the Lego car shown in the picture below.

Rockets work just like that! Exhaust gases come out of the engine nozzle at high speed and push the rocket forward.

What is a Rocket?

The word “rocket” can mean different things. Most people think of a tall, thin, round vehicle. They think of a rocket that launches into space.

“Rocket” can also mean a type of engine and like we said, it can mean a vehicle that uses that engine

Can you tell from the pictures were the engine would be placed?
