Kids have a great time building and discovering, while at the same time learning concepts in science, technology and engineering. Camp themes are offered from ages 4 to 14 years. A variety of engaging camp lesson topics spark your child's imagination. You can explore the many age appropriate camp lesson topics that are offered under each CAMP THEME category. Check your local center's camp schedules, which are announced at the beginning of the camp enrollment season. You may request any one of the three Camp Themes.

FEATURED CAMP:  LEARN PROGRAMMING WITH R2-D2

Your child will learn to program authentic movements just like in the movies and Drive Artoo to go from bipod to tripod stances, or trigger emotive waddles. Your child will learn how to program Artoo's speaker to make the cute sounds like the beeps and boops  that come right from R2-D2 itself.  Programming the robot's LED'S will add that special touch.

Select the PROGRAMMING THEME, while registering for camp.  This camp has age appropriate versions for the Neutrons and Electrons age groups. Students 7-9 yrs of age will program the robot on the graphical smart device interface.  Students 10 years and older will be introduced to JAVA programming concepts in this camp. Students will have a great time learning programming concepts and discovering.  Science Cosmos camps engage your child and spark their imagination.

The day starts out with a FUN filled morning where your child builds a model with Legos or other materials. If its a Game programming or Digital arts Camp, the projects will be done on a PC. In the process they learn concepts in Science and engineering.

YOU have a Choice to pick from our list of FUN & ENGAGING themes for your child OR, you can let Us choose one for you. Kids have so much fun with ALL our camp themes, that they want to keep coming back!

The camps section of our website gives a description of many of the themes offered, including Amazing Robot Animals, Medieval Battle Physics, Space Robots, Lego Science & Math Smart, Arts Cosmos, Minecraft and more. Additional themes that are not listed may be available at your local center.

After completing the assigned building project and lesson progression in the morning, the Full day / PM campers continue on to the afternoon session.  The format is slightly different form 'Full-Day' camp students v/s those enrolled for 'AM+PM Half day' Camps. Students enjoy a lunch break, where we provide a nut free snack and bottled water. We suggest that you pack some lunch as this may not be enough for your child. The kids are then ready to get started with the afternoon activities.

Remember to pick up on time, You can arrange for extended care, if its available at your camp location.

Star Wars Droids

We all love R2-D2 here at SCIENCE COSMOS. Having Artoo do those things we want it to do is such a fun experience.  You dont need to go to a galaxy far, far away…. Your child can learn how to control R2-D2 and use the app based holographic simulations. Let your child bring this iconic Star Wars Droid to life like never before!

Mr. Joshua Yalowitz

If it blinks lights, turns gears or reacts to sensors, Mr. Josh has worked with it. Josh has a deep interest in electrical engineering and computing and has worked with micro-controllers like the Arduino for more than a decade. He has experience in rapid prototyping, CAD design, 3D printing, electric circuit design, wood working, metal working and fabrication, to name a few. He mentored high school students at Marshall High School in Falls Church to help them rebuild their robotics program and took them to the semi-finals this year. He firmly believes that incorporating science and technology into the lives of children at a young age onwards will advance their critical thinking and logical thinking abilities and these skills will advance them significantly in life. Mr. Josh is on his way to becoming a licensed Technology teacher for the county. Mr. Josh will be helping Ms. Soumya in all the STEAM and Lego/Robotics courses at Science Cosmos.

With a ton of experience working in Montessori school system, Soumya brings creative ideas to convey fundamental concepts to the children. She is most passionate about the "spark" that she sees in the child when they get those concepts in Physics. LEGO SCIENCE SMART

Kids build with legos and learn science! An engaging camp that will channel your child's creativity and kindle curiosity in science and engineering.   

Young campers discover the joy of building models and structures. Students follow instructions that guide them with goal oriented building, with LEGO Duplo and other materials. They build several models during the week, each of which introduces them to different ideas. In the process they learn concepts in science. Students work in pairs and build hands-on models that move and learn to problem solve and make things work. Campers are introduced to a variety of science vocabulary and they learn how to apply them to the projects they are doing.

SCRATCH CREATOR

Can designing a video game be as easy as drag and drop? That how easily your child will learn to build a program that translates to video game characters and game elements, using Scratch Junior programming. They gain creative confidence. Students work with visual programming that is intuitive for them. The Scratch Junior interface is designed for young children to help them get an early start on programming. Coding is the new literacy! Your child can program his or her own interactive stories and games. In the process, they learn to solve problems and express themselves creatively on the computer. The lessons are tailored to the students age and ability.

MATH SMART BUILDERS

How about learning math by building cool models?  Math Smart Builders is a hands-on course by Science Cosmos that teaches math concepts in fun way.  Students work with math manipulatives, while they explore and discuss patterns and relationships in shape, size and number. Early logical thinking skills are exercised. This program allows children to discover through enjoyable activities some of the important concepts that underlie many aspects of mathematics: regularity and sequence, symmetry and direction, equivalence and similarity, color and shape recognition, counting and size comparisons. Children learn to identify symmetry in pictures and objects, eventually culminating in the task of reading coordinates on a simple grid.

Full Day Camps

Some locations offer both full day and half day camp options. In addition to the fun themes in our half day camps, kids participating in the full day camps experience fun extend activities to supplement their hands on STEAM education. Students will be involved in Age appropriate enrichment activities, games, and science learning. Did we say NO video games allowed! Full day camp participants should bring packed lunch and snacks that is necessary for the whole day. (Check your local center for availability)

Optional Extended care Care Beyond the Scheduled end time may be available at your Camp location for an additional fee

SUPER SPACE ROBOTS


Journey into space with your robot friend! Maybe like Luke Skywalker? This is a fun yet challenging camp based on a Space theme, where students learn to work in pairs building and programming a “space-worthy” Lego EV3 robot. They learn basic and advanced techniques, programming on a graphical interface. They learn to program sensors and motors, and become skilled in problem solving. Students will learn the building blocks of Lego Robot EV3 programming and will finish off the week by completing an inspiring problem-solving challenge. This is a camp that your child is sure to remember, long after the summer is gone! This space themed camp is a perfect combination of ‘fun+learn’ for students, and inspires them to understand how robots and machines work

Learning science and engineering has never been such fun! Your child lovers Lego's and they are sure to love this camp. This Hands-on program from Science Cosmos enables students to work as young scientists and engineers, helping them to investigate and understand the operation of simple and compound machines found in everyday life. They learn various concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM). The camp provides an enjoyable yet challenging lessons in which students can develop skills such as creative problem-solving, communication of ideas, and teamwork. The activities lead students to make initial use of scientific method through observation, reasoning, prediction, and critical thinking. students build models covering the concepts related to various simple machines. Students experience the mechanical and structural principles normally hidden away inside everyday machines and structures. ROCKET SCIENTIST


This awesome camp zooms into the fantastic world of rockets! Students have a great time launching indoor rockets.They learn about the physics behind rocketry and learn to collect and analyze data and do experiments with different variables.Various principles in rocket physics are covered while students have a fun time ‘Blasting off' from an indoor straw rocket launcher. Students follow a structured lesson plan.

MEDIEVAL BATTLE PHYSICS


Get your Medieval gear on for battle! In this camp, participants experience the thrill of flinging projectiles from medieval machines such as trebuchets and catapults, while the lessons focus on learning scientific principles related to height, velocity and distance. Students can alter characteristics of the Medieval siege machines to test different variables. They see in action, concepts such as levers, inertia, counterweights, torsion and friction. They get an understanding of projectile motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion and potential and kinetic energy. Medieval costume is not required, but welcome!

MATH BLASTERS


How about learning math by building cool models?  Math Blasters is a hands-on course by Science Cosmos that teaches mathematical problem solving in fun way. Mathematics problems can be a difficult concept for children to grasp, where they struggle to hold on to abstract thoughts when making their way through the problem solving process.  Students build while they explore intermediate geometry concepts and related structures in 3-D. The hands on projects teach Math concepts in a experiential way, laying the foundation for higher mathematical learning. The students live in a 3-D world, so it makes sense for them to connect with geometry on a 3-D level.  Students build models using math manipulatives and learn concepts such as Fibonacci sequence and 3D volumes in a Fun way. This innovative course utilizes Knex elements as the tool that makes abstract math tangible.

SCIENCE COSMOS offers a variety of  week-long fun camp lesson topics that are filled with learning, for kids ages 6 to 8 years. Students will have a great time building and discovering, while at the same time learning concepts in science, technology, language arts and engineering. Browse some of the camp lesson topics listed below, which are appropriate for this age group. These camps engage your child and spark their imagination. Always Check your local center's camp schedules, announced at the beginning of the camp enrollment season.

AMAZING ROBOT ANIMALS

Amazing lego robot Animals! A sure fire inspiring way for your child to learn robotics and life science concepts, all in one camp. This camp theme focuses on teaching students about animals and organisms while they build cool lego robot models and learn programming using a graphical interface. This Hands-on program from Science Cosmos enables students to work as young scientists and engineers, helping them to investigate and understand the operation of simple and compound machines found in everyday life. They learn various concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM). The camp provides an enjoyable yet challenging lessons in which students can develop skills such as creative problem-solving, communication of ideas, and teamwork. Medieval Battle Physics

Get your Medieval gear on for battle! In this camp, participants experience the thrill of flinging projectiles from medieval machines such as trebuchets and catapults, while the lessons focus on learning scientific principles related to height, velocity and distance. Students can alter characteristics of the Medieval siege machines to test different variables. They see in action, concepts such as levers, inertia, counterweights, torsion and friction. They get an understanding of projectile motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion and potential and kinetic energy. Medieval costume is not required, but welcome!

Rocket Science

This awesome camp zooms into the fantastic world of rockets! Students have a great time launching indoor rockets.They learn about the physics behind rocketry and learn to collect and analyze data and do experiments with different variables.Various principles in rocket physics are covered while students have a fun time ‘Blasting off.



MATH BLASTERS

How about learning math by building cool models?  Math Blasters is a hands-on course by Science Cosmos that teaches mathematical problem solving in fun way. Mathematics problems can be a difficult concept for young children to grasp, where they struggle to hold on to abstract thoughts when making their way through the problem solving process.  Students build and explore geometry concepts, vocabulary, and structures in 2-D and 3-D. The hands on projects teach Math concepts in a experiential way, laying the foundation for higher mathematical learning. The students live in a 3-D world, so it makes sense for them to connect with geometry on a 3-D level. Even some of the 2-D concepts are best understood when they are held and manipulated. Students build models using math manipulative and learn concepts ranging from Geometric Shapes to Fractions is a Fun way. This innovative course utilizes Knex elements as the tool that makes abstract math tangible.

Under Water Robotic Adventure

Dare to be the next Jacques Cousteau or James Cameron? Imagine exploring the depth of the ocean in a robotic Bathyscaphe. In this robotics camp from Science Cosmos, campers learn how to build underwaterthemed robots incorporating various sensors and motors on the WeDo platform. Students learn a drag and drop programming interface and program the robots that they built to perform various actions. Students are in an enjoyable yet challenging classroom environment in which students develop skills such as creative problemsolving, creativity, and critical thinking. Full Day Camps

Some locations offer both full day and half day camp options. In addition to the fun themes in our half day camps, kids participating in the full day camps experience fun extend activities to supplement their hands on STEAM education. Students will be involved in Age appropriate enrichment activities, games, and science learning. Did we say NO video games allowed! Full day camp participants should bring packed lunch and snacks that is necessary for the whole day. (Check your local center for availability)

Customers ask Us “What will My child be doing in the Camps?” Well, You have come to the right place for answers.

The day starts out with a FUN filled morning where your child builds a model with Legos or other materials. If its a Game programming or Digital arts Camp, the projects will be done on a PC. In the process they learn concepts in Science and engineering.

YOU have a Choice to pick from our list of FUN & ENGAGING themes for your child OR, you can let Us choose one for you. Kids have so much fun with ALL our camp themes, that they want to keep coming back!

The camps section of our website gives a description of many of the themes offered, including Amazing Robot Animals, Medieval Battle Physics, Space Robots, Lego Science & Math Smart, Arts Cosmos, Minecraft and more. Additional themes that are not listed may be available at your local center.

After completing the assigned building project and lesson progression in the morning, the Full day / PM campers continue on to the afternoon session.  The format is slightly different form 'Full-Day' camp students v/s those enrolled for 'AM+PM Half day' Camps. Students enjoy a lunch break, where we provide a nut free snack and bottled water. We suggest that you pack some lunch as this may not be enough for your child. The kids are then ready to get started with the afternoon activities.
